Rag Quilt Kids Sewing Camp with Kaitlyn

I learned to sew from my grandmother, mainly because my mother did not have the patience to do so. Although I enjoyed the time I spent with her we started on a blouse. Looking back I wish I had started on a quilt so my confidence in my sewing ability increased with the process. Can you imagine the quilts I could have crafted had I learned to quilt at that age. And trust me, I do not make blouses for myself.

Are you a mom or grandma that wants to share their love of quilting with their little ones?  We welcome mothers and grandmothers to attend our Rag Quilt Kids Sewing Camp  with their children. It will be great fun!!

Attendees will learn fabric layout, piecing, and machine quilting in this 3-day camp.  Sewing machines will be provided.  This camp is designed for children ages 8-12.

Fiberworks Retreat – Customer Testimonial

We had such a great time at The Quilter’s Lodge. What a beautiful place.
Jonell & Instructor, Laura Heine
My husband, Tim, and I arrived late in the evening to find quilters busily working on their projects in the large classroom.  Introductions were quickly made and not to impede progress, we settled into our room while the ladies continued to work into the night. It is such an advantage to be able to work after the designated classroom time.
The classroom adjoins the quilt shop which displays full lines of fabric collections and all the notions you could possibly need. So perfect for a retreat or workshop to have everything in one facility, especially if you are traveling.
Sherie, you and Mindy were so accommodating. Your willingness to setup additional work areas following the workshop was very much appreciated.
Tim was provided several areas to relax and work on his projects and appreciated all the effort to make his stay so comfortable.  The Quilter’s Lodge is designed to feel like a “home away from home”.
Thank you for a wonderful experience,
JoNell and Tim from Colorado

Instructor Spotlight: Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Company

Joanna Figueroa often says that she can’t remember a time when she wasn’t creating some kind of art or working with her hands. It was a serendipitous occasion that found her working with textiles as a medium and she describes it as a “coming home” type of experience.

She has been a licensed designer for MODA fabrics for 12 years and is beloved for her numerous fabric collections in her signature Fresh Vintage™ style. Currently working on her 31st fabric collection, her collections focus on quilting cottons but includes other substrates.

Joanna also co-owns and operates Fig Tree & Company along with her husband Eric, who is her right hand man in all of their business endeavors. Fig Tree & Co. specializes in a fresh perspective on traditional quilting and sewing patterns, focusing on quilts, whimsical kid’s items, home furnishings as well as purses & personal accessories. Fig Tree currently offers more than 200 stand alone patterns and wholesales thousands of patterns to stores both nationally and internationally.

She has written several books with Leisure Arts, Martingale & Co. and Wiley & Sons. She is a regular contributor to both national and international publications such as American Patchwork & Quilting, Quilts & More, American Quilt Retailer and Quiltmania. Her work and studio have been featured in various venues including Quiltmania [French], The Quiltmakers [British], Les Edicion de Saxe [French], Australian Patchwork & Quilting, Where Women Create. Joanna also teaches several classes for Craftsy and lectures and teaches nationally and internationally.
